What millivolt output range is required for a Skytech remote receiver to operate correctly?

Your fireplace thermopile must generate at least 200 mV at the valve's TH/TP terminals for the receiver relay to hold the main valve open. A healthy thermopile produces between 250 and 750 mV, though this voltage drops as the component ages through repeated heating cycles. If testing with a multimeter reveals an output below 200 mV, replace the thermopile before installing the remote system.

Can I use a Skytech variable-flame remote with any millivolt gas valve?

No, variable-flame systems require a valve body specifically engineered to handle the stepping motor's torque and rotation increments. Standard millivolt valves with basic on/off operators cannot modulate flame height and are incompatible with stepping motor receivers. Always verify that your exact valve model is on Skytech's approved compatibility list before ordering.

Where should I mount the Skytech receiver module to protect it from heat damage?

Install the receiver module in the lower access compartment or an adjacent framing cavity where ambient temperatures remain under 104°F. Never mount it directly against the firebox metal or inside the chase, as direct heat transfer will destroy the internal electronics. Placing a sheet metal thermal shield between the firebox wall and the receiver provides essential insulation in warm access spaces.

How do I re-sync my Skytech transmitter to the receiver after changing batteries?

After installing new batteries, press and hold the learn button on the receiver module until the status LED flashes to enter pairing mode. Press any activation button on the transmitter within 30 seconds to lock the RF channel between both units. Because many Skytech remotes reset their learned pairing when power is interrupted, re-syncing is standard procedure after every battery change.

Does a Skytech fireplace remote system work with ventless gas log sets?

Yes, Skytech receivers work with ventless gas log sets that utilize a millivolt valve, standing pilot, and ODS assembly. The thermopile must generate at least 200 mV across the valve's accessible dry contact TH/TP terminals to hold the valve open. Always verify that your ventless log set features a compatible millivolt valve prior to installation.
